SPECIAL EVENT: This is a special DREAM Festival film event, screening two feature films from the 2022 Lebanese Film Festival. Both films will have English subtitles.

1:20pm – Doors open

3:50pm – 4:30pm Intermission with light refreshments provided

4:30pm – Memory Box

Film Society members can attend free of charge, but you must book your seat through the Box Office of the Dubbo Regional Theatre.

2:00pm – Daughters of Abdul Rahman

Zeinab, a single, middle-aged seamstress, lives a dreary existence in a suffocating Amman neighbourhood. After her father mysteriously disappears, her sisters, all with their own problems, return home to help find their father, all under the prying eyes and accusatory utterances of their pesky neighbours.

An insightful look into the sometimes difficult lives of being an Arab woman, and battling society’s mores.

Maia, a single mother, lives in Montreal with her teenage daughter, Alex. On Christmas Eve, they receive an unexpected delivery: notebooks, tapes, and photos Maia sent to her best friend from 1980’s Beirut. Maia refuses to open the box or confront its memories, but Alex secretly begins diving into it. Between fantasy and reality, Alex enters the world of her mother’s tumultuous, passionate adolescence during the Lebanese civil war, unlocking mysteries of a hidden past.
